We are a diverse group of folks who share a passion for the sport of soaring. ESC was incorporated in 1957 as a non-profit society. Our club offers training to students, club gliders to rent, and opportunities to attend ridge and mountain wave gliding camps across Alberta.
ESC is located just north of Chipman, (45 minutes east of Edmonton). We operate most weekends from spring thaw until winter freeze. We also host flying weeks several times per year when members can fly all week! Twice a year, we head to Cowley in Southern Alberta for its amazing views and soaring conditions.
The Edmonton Soaring Club is a member of country and world-wide Soaring Organizations. The Soaring Association of Canada is the national organization that supplies common safety, training standards, insurance, and administration to all gliding clubs. We also work very closely with The Alberta Soaring Council and get together with other Albertan soaring clubs for several events each year.
Most importantly, we are a fully member and volunteer-run club. Our instructors, our tow pilots, our club executives, the people who work on the flight line getting gliders ready to fly are all dedicated volunteers that help keep the cost of flying down and ensure our operations run smoothly.
If you come out to the field then you are probably going to encounter one of the following friendly people, or one of the many other member volunteers who keep us soaring.
